The Use of Recertified Medical Equipment and a Refurbished CT Scanner

From recertified centrifuges to a refurbished CT scanner, hospitals, imaging centers and medical test locations are utilizing used equipment more and more. Many in charge of purchasing may worry about the reliability of used medical equipment, however, it is important to note that not every piece of used equipment is accepted for resale. Used medical equipment must pass a series of tests and certifications to ensure the equipment will be able to provide consistent and accurate results.

Why Purchased Used Medical Equipment?

Used medical equipment is a cost-effective way to provide additional testing options for their patients while improving their bottom line. New medical equipment can be much more expensive than used equipment and may not be within an imaging center’s or hospital’s budget, thus making the use of used equipment much more appealing.

It is important, however, when considering used medical equipment that the hospital, testing center or imaging center work with a reputable seller of refurbished equipment with a long-standing history of success.

Purchasing a Refurbished CT Scanner

One incredibly expensive piece of medical imaging equipment to purchase new is a CT scanner. A new CT scanner, depending on type, slices per rotation and brand can cost hundreds of thousands of dollars. Therefore, purchasing a refurbished CT scanner is a much more viable option for many hospitals and imaging centers.

Utilizing a refurbished CT scanner can meet a variety of needs. Many consider a refurbished CT scanner as a backup to the primary CT scanner incase it is down for maintenance or repair. Others may utilize a refurbished CT scanner as a way to provide a shorter wait period for appointments for their patients. This can also help increase the imaging center’s or hospital’s financial stability, while helping patients avoid waiting an extended period of time for an appointment, which can increase their anxiousness related to their potential medical issue. When a patient can have their test completed without an extended wait time for an appointment, they will be able to work with their doctor quicker if a medical issue is confirmed or have peace of mind if the potential issue is not found.
